Longest Night
2009: On the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, the staff, volunteers and friends of Operation Safety Net, a program of the Sisters of Mercy, Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, gather to honor those individuals who died while homeless in Pittsburgh and the people who serve them.
Operation Safety Net memorializes those who passed away with bronze plaques mounted on an underpass on one of the city’s busiest streets. Play slideshow>> (Requires Flash Player.)
